Li Xinmo
Born in 1976 in Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province, China. She graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 2008.
She employs a variety of media such as performance, painting, and video to produce artwork that explores memory, dreams, and subconsciousness in words, images, installations, and on-site performance.
Her works cover topics such as gender, identity, ecology, etc. Her works have been exhibited in the world’s important art museums such as the The National Museum of World Culture (Världskulturmuseet, Gothenburg, Sweden) and the Bonn Women’s Museum (Germany), and participated in the Toronto Biennial of Art in Canada and the China-Europe International Art Biennale of Praque. Her works have been collected by the The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities (Östasiatiska museet, Stockholm, Sweden), Teda Contemporary Art Museum, as well as by collectors in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Singapore and other countries.
She has also been honored by the UN Women. Her academic articles have been published in the National Arts, Oriental Art: Master, and other art professional journals. She has curated the feminist art exhibition Heterogeneous Body, Performance Art and Postmodern Theater Series: Workshops at UCCA in 2017, Map and Territory internatinal art exhibition in 2018, and Deutschland–Deutsche Kunst in China at the German Embassy in 2019.
