Li Chuan and Li Zhanyang 

On December 1, 2024, Sophia Kidd, Associate Professor at Sichuan International Studies University, research curator and art critic, will be the host, in conversation with Li Chuan, Director of the Experimental Art Institute of Sichuan Fine Arts Academy, and Li Zhanyang, Professor of Sculpture Department of Sichuan Fine Arts Academy. They will discuss the intertextual relationship between art and sensibility, perception and geography by explaining their creative concepts and insights, and bring you to discover an art world full of surprises and insights.

Li Chuan

Currently, he is the director of Experimental Art College of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Graduated from the Printmaking Department of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 1996. Since 1999, he has been teaching at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute as a professor and doctoral supervisor.

Since the mid-1990s, he has devoted himself to the exploration of printmaking, installation, video art and other forms of artistic creation, and has widely devoted himself to the experiments in the field of public art and innovative disciplines.

His works have been published in Fine Arts, Art Observations, Contemporary Artists, Art View, Art World, Backup of New Art – Artists Born in the Seventies, New Wave, Sichuan Pictorial, Art and Culture Seasons, Chinese Prints, Chinese Contemporary Lithography, Humanities, Printmaking, and other magazines and catalogs.

Collections: His works have been collected by the National Art Museum of China, Jiangsu Provincial Art Museum, Guangdong Art Museum, Zhejiang Provincial Art Museum, Heilongjiang Provincial Art Museum, Chongqing Art Museum, and private collections at home and abroad.

 

Li Zhanyang

Professor at the Sculpture Department of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Currently lives in Chongqing.

Born in 1969 in Changchun, Jilin Province, China.

Graduated from the Sculpture Department of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, Shenyang, China in 1994.

1999 Graduated from the Equivalent Graduate Program of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, China.

In 2004, he taught at the Villa Arson Academy of Fine Arts in Nice, France for half a year;

2014 Postgraduate studies at the Center for Literature and Museums, Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing, China, M.A.;

In 2017-2018, he visited the University of Pittsburgh in the United States.

Li Zhanyang has held and participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad; his works have been collected by the National Art Museum of China, Wuhan Museum of Art, Guangzhou Museum of Art, Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, White Rabbit Museum of Art, Australia, Rubell Art Museum, Miami, USA, Porsche, and Ulli Hick, among others.
