Piece Description

Text/Dr. Sophia Kidd

In this artwork, Zhu Ming brings to the fore his decades of training in public art and spatial design.

The artist studied spatial design in New Zealand, a special multi-disciplinary program which combines many fields of knowledge, such as spatial ontology, site relational aesthetics and affective architecture.

Zhu Ming was chosen by his father, Zhu Cheng, as the sole heir to the latter’s artistic legacy, which includes not only a creative practice in contemporary art, but also the stewardship of the Zhu Cheng Chengdu Stone Carving Museum.

With trained intelligence and sensitivity to local issues and concerns, Zhu Ming pays homage to art through ritualistic expression.
